The Local Government Unit of Binalonan through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development on September 27  held a one-day celebration  in line with the 27th National Family Week at the Binalonan Rock Garden.

With the local theme, “Pamilya, Kaakibat ka sa Pagwakas ng Karahasan,” parlor games, dances, lectures and induction of parent officers were conducted by the MSWD personnel headed by Marilyn Imbat, MSWD officer of Binalonan.

Imbat discussed Rights and Duties of Parents while Police Master Sergeant Ginaly Valdez discussed RA 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Vice Mayor Melicio Patague II, Councilors  Glory Jovelyn Manaois, chair, Committee on Women and Family, and Bryan Louie Balangue, chairman, Committee on Social Services, gave their messages.

Patague talked about the importance of harmonious family relationship and he also mentioned the completed and coming projects of the municipal government under the leadership of then Mayor Ramon Guico III and the incumbent Mayor Ramon Guico Jr.

Manaois talked about the importance of family, she said, “Pahalagahan ang inyong pamilya kahit ano ang problema, palagi silang nandiyan para sa atin.”

Balangue talked about the four qualities of a good family- matatag, panatag, maginhawa and nagkakaisa.

The National Family Week celebration with the theme, “Tungo sa Maginhawa, Matatag at Panatag na Pamilyang Pilipino”  held on the last week of September aimed “to strengthen the Filipino family unity and relationship through meaningful celebration and promotion of Filipino values.”

On September 23, government employees were allowed to go home at 2 o’clock in the afternoo so that they could spend mealtime with their families in observance of “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day.”
