Davao artist holds creative economy, arts workshop

A Davao-based artist on Feb. 12-13 conducted the first creative economy and arts workshop in Binalonan at The Tent Events Center.

Victor Secuya, an advocate of creative economy, a painter, sculptor, writer, and teacher rolled into one, lectured basic drawing and conducted workshop for selected students of the Juan G. Macaraeg National High School.

Secuya, whose artworks are collected by patrons in the Philippines and other countries, told the students to find their line of interest, and advised them
to hone their skills.

According to authorities, creative economy or creative industry is used to describe theatre, dance, music, film, the visual arts and the heritage sector. Creative industries are of growing importance to the economy of many countries and gave employment to a large number of people.

JGMNHS teachers May Montemayor, Daniel Valenzuela, and Paul dela Paz accompanied and joined their students in the activities during the two-day workshop, an activity scheduled during the town fiesta.

Municipal Tourism Coordinator Angelica Peregrino, and Technical Assistants to the Mayor Donabel Hazel Sabado, and Jessica Tabilin facilitated the workshop.

Councilor Ronald Biado chaired the workshop and he was assisted by SK Federation officers and members.
